We will leave the hotel at 7:45AM and return about 3:30-4:00pm.  (Times subject to slight change.) YES, it’s a long day but you will leave feeling that you have seen more than just the hotel and a few blocks each way. We will visit the historical landmark – Panama Canal.  So let’s get started.

We will start our fascinating City Tour at the Panama Canal where we will get a quick overview about the Canal of Panama, its history and function. During the tour, we will include explanations about the history and importance of the African descendant people during the construction process of the Panama Canal.

Casco Viejo. The Historic Quarter of Panama City (“Casco Viejo”)

The Historic Quarter of Panama City (“Casco Viejo”)

Afterwards, we will take you to the Casco Viejo, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With our expert guides, we will browse the hundreds of cobbled streets full of stunning colonial buildings, explore the Plaza de la Independencia, the Arch Chato, San Francisco Church and the Plaza Francia among others, giving us a stunning view over the Bay of Panama. You will also find a wide selection of

Are You Hungry After the Walking Tour?  Of course you are, so we will head to lunch at BarKo

We will move on to Rio Abajo, while enjoying a panoramic tour of the modern city. Our guided tour of Rio Abajo includes the Wesley Methodist Church.

Rio Abajo

Rio Abajo

Our guide will help us get to know this area, far away from the touristic spots. We will learn about their history and culture, and will show you how and where they live. The afro descendent community in Panama is very large and they all have their personal story to tell.

Wesley Methodist Church

Wesley Methodist Church

One of the most important parts of the tour will be a visit to the Wesley Methodist Church. In cooperation with the pastor, we will get an insight about its history, the recent celebration of the church and a discussion about the influence and heritage of the Silver People.

What to wear: Comfortable clothes and shoes (sneakers or shoes that you have ‘broken’ -no time to be cute), sunglasses, hat, sunscreen, purse with a long strap that you can put over your shoulder to not lose, and it’s safe- or a fanny pack)
